Meet Colette: The Queen Bee of CBD

CBD…THC…BRB. Seriously though…brb because I can’t even keep up with what’s the latest and greatest and it’s actually my job! 🤪 That said, I can only imagine what it’s like out there for people that are genuinely curious about CBD. CBD by the way, is short for Cannabidiol, one of the many chemical compounds found in marijuana and hemp. Thing is, you’re probably already familiar with THC, which is another compound found in the cannabis plant. But unlike THC, CBD isn’t psychoactive. Meaning, it doesn’t get you high like THC does. This fact alone is probably one of the most frequently asked questions and most common misconception when it comes to CBD.

Here’s the thing – I’m no expert. But I know someone who is…her name is Marie Evans and she’s the founder of Colette – a brand new CBD service designed with the modern woman in mind. Essentially Colette takes the guesswork out of CBD for you. They do the research, the vetting and then they pair your individual needs with the highest-quality CBD products currently on the marketplace. It truly couldn’t be easier, especially for those that are new to the world of CBD and aren’t quite sure where (or how!) to start.

I’ve learned a TON about CBD over the past couple of months and can honestly say – I’m a believer. I use CBD tincture at night to help calm my brain so that I can fall asleep faster. I have CBD-infused balm that I use on my lips to keep them super soft and I’ve used that same balm on my eyelids to reduce morning puff! Teas, lollipops, bath bombs – the list goes on. And I use them all for different things! If it wasn’t for Colette, I wouldn’t have ever known the true power of CBD and how I can (and should!) incorporate it properly into my daily life.

With CBD becoming more widely talked about, there’s so much misinformation out there that I thought why not get some facts straight from the source? You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers. Let’s get to to it!

Marie Evans, founder of Colette

Ok Marie – tell us: Why Colette? What does it mean to you and what are you hoping that it means for other women?

Marie Evans: For me, Colette means confidence. It’s about making your wellness routine work for YOU rather than trying to cram yourself into the latest self-care craze. Our motto is “Define Your Shine” because we want every woman who tries Colette to feel empowered and inspired to create a plan that works best for them. It’s about creating confidence from the inside out without fear of stigma, judgement, or misinformation. When you feel good, you look good!

I know that one of the reasons you decided to be an advocate for CBD is because you have a personal connection to it. Can you tell us about that?

ME: I started taking CBD several years ago after talking to a friend who had great success with managing his seizures on it. I figured if it’s working for him, it MUST work on my anxiety. Within the first few weeks, I was amazed by the physical difference in my body. My shoulders were less tense and I actually had better posture. I carry so much of my stress in that area and I had no idea. Since then, I’ve worked to find the right dosage and products that work best for me. I love to incorporate a little bit of CBD at night with a cup of tea to help promote better sleep since that tends to be when my mind races the most. Over the last year, I’ve started exploring more of the CBD beauty space and it’s been such a fun learning experience to understand how CBD interacts with our skin. The cellular regeneration you can experience from this little plant is fantastic (…especially as someone in their mid 30s!)

Colette has a personalization component to it that other businesses/online marketplaces don’t. Why is that so important to Colette’s mission?

ME: Ask any CBD vendor and they will tell you that there is no right dose. Every body is different – so how can we possibly prescribe the same product to everyone and expect dynamic results across the board? CBD works best when it works for YOU. We’re not interested in quick-hitting solutions. We’re here for the long-haul. We want to work with women to find what is truly best for their unique needs. Sometimes that takes a little trial and error and we’re prepared to guide them every step of the way.

Love that! So, while there are a variety of categories, you’ve sort of broken them down into four major buckets: Sleep, Pain, Beauty and Stress. Give me your fave product right now for each and why.

ME: For sleep, I like Juna Nightcap Sleep Drops. Juna combines CBD with other sleep-inducing terpenes to ensure you will fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up rested.

Pain: Cordial Organics Restore Heat Balm. This little beauty packs a punch – the warming clove and ginger feels amazing on tired muscles, especially after a day skiing!

Beauty: Dehiya L+C Tint. I’m obsessed with this for the winter season. I’ve been using it on my cheeks and lip for a quick refresh.

Stress: Shea Brand Bath Bomb Trio. At the end of a bad work day, you can find me soaking with a glass of wine and one of these beauties in the bath.

I second this one! These bath bombs are incredible. Highly recommend! 😍 In addition to the brands mentioned above, what’s another CBD brand that you’re totally crushing on right now?

ME: PureBloom. Farmed in Maine, lab-made in California – it’s female-owned, family-run and their beauty products are one step ahead of the game. The owner, Wendy, has combined collagen with CBD and botanicals in her line of beauty serums, night cream and beauty bites that is next level. I use it daily (my partner, Chris, does too – but shhh don’t tell anyone!)

What’s the ultimate Colette Collab for you? Can be anything or anyone!

ME: I have a dream of partnering with inspiring female artists from around the world to create limited-edition Colette Kits that are specially designed by the artist and filled with unique CBD and cannabis products outside of our regular product range.

Obsessed with that idea! Keep us posted. 😉 Speaking of…what’s the future of Colette? What can we expect next?

ME: The future is all about relationships. We’re focusing 2020 on forging tighter brand partnerships, engaging in more collaborations across the cannabis industry, and bringing Colette to life in as many brick-and-mortar, pop-up locations as possible. Want to see us in a city near you? Give us a shout!

In addition to being able to purchase individual products on Colette‘s marketplace, Colette also offers signature kits, that are customized to each person’s individual needs. All you have to do is fill out a few quick questions and Colette‘s team will match CBD products to meet those needs. Within a few days, your personalized Colette Kit will be waiting for you right on your doorstep!
